Kiwi for Gmail Heads To Windows to Redefine Gmail/G Suite Experience
Posted April 25, 2017 in Press Releases

New York, NY – April 11th, 2017 Kiwi for Gmail 2.0, the top-rated Mac app for Gmail and G Suite, is now available on Windows. For the first time, PC users will be able to experience Google Apps in a whole new way by moving their email and documents beyond the constraints of the browser to make people more productive on their desktops.

“Since our inception, people have been asking when Kiwi for Gmail would be available on Windows. We’re happy to announce that the wait is finally over!” Said Eric Shashoua, CEO. “Windows users of Gmail and G Suite no longer have to settle for user experiences that do not deliver what’s possible through native applications.

Kiwi for Gmail 2.0 now enables everyone to access all the great features and unique cloud-based functionality of G-Suite apps in a better way. By taking them out of the browser, we’ve added useful new features that make each app more intuitive and enable people to be more productive.

According to Google, more than 3 million paying businesses are now using G Suite productivity apps. However, one of the biggest hurdles preventing even wider adoption is the reality that they don’t function like Microsoft Office applications and must be accessed via the browser which limits functionality and dramatically reduces people’s ability to multi-task. Zive wants to make Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides look and feel as much like Microsoft Office as possible, while still preserving the uniqueness of G Suite.

We believe that Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides are great apps, but companies should be able to use them like they’ve used Microsoft Office for the last 20 years.” says Shashoua. “Since employees continue to do most of their work on the desktop” he continues, “It’s important to move beyond the browser which is great for content consumption, but very limiting when it comes to content creation”

By providing multiple windows, desktop integration, and a simple, intuitive interface that allows users to quickly access each application, open new documents, and get back to their recent documents with a single click, Kiwi for Gmail 2.0 enables companies to implement all the great functionality of cloud computing and G-Suite apps in a better way. And – a first for Google Drive or its office apps – it works across multiple accounts.

The launch of our Windows app is also exciting for the millions of students using Google Docs, Sheets and Slides for school work. They can now open up multiple windows and easily access recent documents, which is essential when doing research and completing assignments.

Key features of Kiwi for Gmail 2.0 (for both Mac and Windows):

  • Ability to use Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides as native, windowed desktop applications within Kiwi for Gmail

  • Application icons to launch Docs, Sheets and Slides directly, not through Gmail

  • Designed to open documents in their own windows for multi-tasking across applications and multiple accounts

  • Offline access for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides is in development

In addition to the existing features that have turned Gmail into a powerful desktop email app:

  • Separated from the browser

  • Significantly enhanced security with Zive Account Isolation™

  • Seamless multiple accounts

  • Multi-task, reply, view, draft emails in multiple windows

  • Right-click to share files, large files, or whole folders from the desktop

Zive’s Kiwi for Gmail application has the highest overall rating (average rating for all versions) of all third-party email apps on the Mac since its beta debut in 2015, surpassing other well-known apps such as AIrMail, Unibox and Go for Gmail. Mac users have given both Kiwi for Gmail (paid) and Kiwi for Gmail Lite (free) 4.5 out of 5.0 stars, far surpassing the ratings of its competitors.
